Matt Nathanson

A couple weeks ago, when I was heading out for my drive to the country, I played CD roulette and just grabbed a random one from the box.  It was Modern Love, by Matt Nathanson, released in the summer of 2011 (that long ago already?).  I 'won' it from WEXT; they had been pushing it hard.  Don't judge me. I think it is a great record - perfect for singing along to in the car - LOUD!  and I can really relate to that title track.  I know it was playing in the car one day when I looked deep into the eyes of the AL and sang along:

'to tell you the truth, she said, I've been getting used to liars'.

I let him in, I, oh man, I let him win, I burned my house down just to hear him scream my name. I carried hopes and heavy daydreams, she said, but I'm done with sleeping.

He's playing tomorrow night at SPAC, with Train and The Fray.  I'll be going, not because I would choose to see these popsters live but because Movie Friend asked me to go with her, and one hand washes the other - that's modern love of a different kind...
