oh...my...god

I was in the dollar store looking for cheap junk, not just any cheap junk, but the kind I could fill a basket with and donate for a prize for the 4th grade auction.  I used to give a bike, helmet, lock, and bling for a fortune. Now I give dollar store toys - a one dollar wiffle bat and a couple packs of balls, foam football, etc, make a great prize and they love it.

I saw this book, and I was just repulsed. 'Scripture Reinforcement'!!  but really, in what way does religion help with problem solving?

Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien

This book has a phenomenal opening line, which draws you right in, although to be honest, it took me a couple weeks to pick it up in the first place. Dragged it to Mexico and read it on the beach. Some beautiful darlings, some things to think about.

Land of Mine 3/30/Spectrum

This was the Danish film nominated for the Academy Award best foreign language film (lost to The Salesman.) Another film with moral/ethical questions. Tense, intense, filmed beautifully. I hadn't even heard of it, just happened to see it listed on the website and ran over to catch it on the last day of the run.

Nothing is as surprisingly beautiful as the color of the water, when viewed from the Ultramar ferry, on the way to Isla Mujeres.

The Salesman 2/28 Spectrum

Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. I liked it better than my film companion did. Moral/ethical dilemma. What things can be forgiven and what are things you can't let go?
