Booker T Jones 9/12/15 Albany Jazz Festival
Booker T blew me away at Green River Festival in July, so made sure to see him here in town. I was a little surprised that he was headlining this bill - I don't think of him as a 'jazz' musician. He did bring that KICK ASS band with him; that drummer is awesome.
(Every time I think about a great drummer, I think of GP's joke: 'What do you call a guy who hangs out with musicians? A drummer'. It's terrible, but it always pops into my head.)
Anyway, it was a very rainy night at the Corning Preserve boat launch, under 787 - A totally different experience than the green grass at Green River.
We had gone to Druther's for a snack and a drink beforehand. We went in before the rain started (left the umbrella and raincoat in the car!), watched the Yankees over the bar, and it was torrential when we were leaving. The Polish Mob got the car and pulled up at the door, but a river of a puddle was running down the side of the road! I opened the door and stretched (remembering the time I slipped on the wet waxed floor all those years ago; I had said one small step for man, and splat!) over the puddle and the Polish Mob pulled me into the car. No falling on his watch!
